Problem Note 60534: Incorrect data is returned from queries to SAS/ACCESS® Interface to R3 for CURR data types that use a national language format

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAP R/3 might return incorrect data when queried from either SAS® Enterprise Guide®, SAS® Data Integration Studio, or SAS® Studio in the following circumstances:

  • The SAS Enterprise Guide project has more than one task that queries SAP R/3, the SAS Data Integration Studio job has more than one transformation that queries SAP R/3, or the SAS Studio job has more than one task that queries SAP R/3.
  • The SAP R/3 data type is CURR.
  • A SAS national language format is applied to a column (for example, NLNUM18.5).
  • The SAP R/3 library is NOT assigned in each task or transformation.

There is no indication of a problem in the logs. However, values returned appear to be 0. When you use the BEST32.30 format to display values, they are displayed as a very small value (for example, 1E-310).

Note: The problem has not been observed in SAS® Foundation or when you run a SAS program in batch mode.

SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Studio Workaround

To work around the problem when using SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Studio, do one of the following:

  • Remove the national language formats from the CURR data type columns.
  • Insert SAP R/3 LIBNAME statements in each task that uses these libraries. This workaround requires copying the task code and creating a program.

SAS Data Integration Studio Workaround

To work around the problem when using SAS Data Integration Studio, do one of the following:

  • Remove the national language format from the CURR data type columns.
  • Insert SAP R/3 LIBNAME statements in the pre-code for each task that uses these libraries.
  • Go to the Code tab of the job and change the Code Generation Mode from Automatic to User Written Body.
  • Deploy the job, and run it in batch mode.
  • Copy the code, and run it from the SAS Data Integration Studio code editor, SAS Enterprise Guide, or SAS Foundation.
